Being the type of person that I am, I consider taking trips and short vacations every once in a while. Like having trips down South every weekend, which is “once in a while” for me, or probably heading North, whichever you prefer. Okay, so taking time off of the stressful work school has been giving me and my friends, we decided to head South. Our destination? Argao. We got there by bus two hours later. Argao made me feel like I wasn’t in Cebu, like I was a tourist or something.
People there were very friendly, especially people in Lawis. Lawis is this beach in Argao where surfers and skim boarders, or the locals, gather to do what they do best. After having the “time-of-our-lives” at the beach, we decided to take a little tour around, the one by the church and the plaza. A friend of ours who had a surf shop in Argao acted as our tour guide. Now that made me feel much more of a tourist. And then little did we know it, it was already getting late. We walked back to the shop, Soul Garage (it’s this little shop in Argao where people can take skim or surf lessons for a good rate, and are also selling beach and outdoor apparels, i.e surf boards, skim boards, shorts, t-shirts etc.), and had our dinner there. When you’re there, you don’t have to worry about food because they have a variety of street food sold around the area. After dinner, we were pretty much bonding with the people at the shop, which was also where they made us drink tuba (coconut wine). It was one whole new experience for me, so after that short vacation, we came back the next weekend, and I can’t wait to have more of those adventures. What’s another one-hundred and thirty pesos fare back and forth? It’ll be worth it.
